Dumb. This looks like a solution looking for a problem. And a real kludge at that. Plus it’s in Steal Me White.
I seem to have no problem just plugging my iPhone into a USB port, using the CarPlay display and keeping the phone in the center bay. Besides, who wants to block the AC vents? That makes no sense.
My concern with this product, one that should definitely be listed as a con, is the stark white color. How many dashboards out there are white? When not in the car or actively being used, this thing is going to stick out like a sore thumb. Plus, with the obviously visible magnetic circle pattern, any would-be thief will easily know that the driver is the proud owner of a brand new, expensive iPhone. Maybe this makes the car more attractive to someone curious about what other goodies might be inside. Lame.
Exactly. Never leave ANYTHING inside a vehicle that may invite an unwanted “inspection”!
My vehicle has a hidden shelf, with USB and 12V jacks, below the dash and under the center console arm rest thing. I bought black USB cables so I just leave them there plugged in at all times. No worries.

No charging, wut? If you have an old car without CarPlay, ok there is a reason to hang your phone on a vent. But then still it should have charging -- the whole point of MagSafe.
This is perfect for those whose car has wired CarPlay. Your phone will be plugged in and charging anyways.
I'm in that category -- but why would I want to hang my phone on the vent instead of toss it into the center console? With CarPlay I already have a large head-unit display to look at.
And car vents are NOT designed to carry weight. They're thin, they're relatively fragile, and they WILL break if you jam phone mounts on them. You'll go over a speed bump and put just a bit too much torque on the vent, and you've got a phone in the floor and a broken vent.
