Tim Cook to deliver remarks at UN Climate Ambition Summit on Dec. 12
Apple has announced that CEO Tim Cook is set to speak at the United Nations Climate Ambition Summit on Saturday, Dec. 12.

The summit is being held on the fifth anniversary of the international Paris climate agreements. It's being co-hosted by the United Nations, the U.K., and France, and comes ahead of UN talks slated for 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Cook's plan to deliver remarks at the summit was confirmed by Reuters.
According to the summit's website, it will provide "a meaningful platform for civil society, young people and Indigenous Peoples representatives, many of whom disproportionately experience the impacts of climate change."
Countries will set new goals based on the three pillars of the Paris Agreement: "mitigation, adaptation, and finance commitments." The U.S. is no longer part of the Paris Accord, though President-elect Joe Biden has signaled intent to rejoin it.
Apple has placed increased emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility in recent years. The Cupertino tech giant has been running on 100% renewable energy since 2018, and recently announced plans to become carbon neutral across its operations and supply chain by 2030.
