Apple releases second developer beta of macOS Big Sur 11.2

Apple has moved on to its second developer beta of macOS Big Sur 11.2, providing testers with a new version of the Mac operating system for testing.




The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled into the test program, or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software. Public betas typically arrive within a few days of the developer versions, via the Apple Beta Software Program website.

Apple issued the first developer beta for macOS 11.2 on December 16, after releasing macOS 11.1 to the public on December 14. The first public beta for macOS 11.2 was released on December 17.

It is largely unclear what changes are being made in the beta, but it is thought to consist of bug fixes, performance improvements, and other compatibility changes to assist with the migration over to Apple Silicon.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly suggest users avoid installing betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, due to the potential for data loss or other issues. It is instead recommended to install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to ensure there are sufficient backups of important data beforehand.

    Is Spotlight fixed? Getting tired of not being able to search for anything on my drive nor being able to open applications quickly from the search.

    Searching returns nothing?  I use CMD+Space to pull up Spotlight multiple times a day to launch applications and it is definitely working in B2, but it was also working fine for me in B1.

    There's no special Spotligh bug to be fixed. You probably had some sort of corruption to your indexes.

    Just follow an online guide to make spotlight re-index your drive (you can add it remove it from the "Privacy" locations Spotlight doesn't search in preferences, or manually delete the folder it keeps the indexes from the command line).

    You’re kidding right? Spotlight and Bluetooth have major issues in 11.1.
