Apple is celebrating American Heart Month by encouraging owners of older Apple Watch models to upgrade with increased trade-in prices during February.

If you've been looking for a reason to upgrade your Apple Watch, February may be the time to do it. Apple Watch trade-in values have increased slightly, with the Apple Watch Series 2 seeing the most significant value increase.

The maximum trade-in values for devices in good, working condition are now:
  • Apple Watch Series 1: $40 (up from $35)

  • Apple Watch Series 2: $80 (up from $60)

  • Apple Watch Series 3: $100 (up from $95)

  • Apple Watch Series 4: $160 (up from $150)

  • Apple Watch Series 5: $200 (up from $190)
In the event that customers have nonfunctional devices they would like to get rid of, Apple will recycle them for free.

The Apple Watch has a long history of detecting heart problems in its wearers, who often show no outward symptoms. Recently, an Ohio resident credited the Apple Watch with saving his life when it detected an atrial flutter.

The Apple Watch also uncovered a heart condition in an 80-year-old woman in Germany -- one that a hospital's own ECG missed.

Apple has also released a new, limited edition Black Unity Apple Watch and Sport Band to celebrate Black History Month. Also available is the Black Unity watch face, which released in watchOS 7.3.

Does anyone know if you can trade in a watch for something other than another watch?  My wife and I bought our S6s a few months ago and forgot to trade in our S4s and are looking to unload them.

yah, just scroll down to where it reads "Get credit on an Apple gift card" https://www.apple.com/shop/trade-in

awfully curious what they do with Series 1 and 2 watches… certainly not selling refurb, probably not salvaging for replacement parts. Maybe just worth the money to keep old users in the ecosystem?

Yes, you can trade them in for an Apple Gift Card that you can use on anything you want.
