Isn’t this the same organization that gave R Kelly an image award after the video came out where he had sex with and peed on a 14 year old?

    R. Kelly Mocked at NAACP Image Awards Nominees Luncheon

    https://variety.com/2019/music/news/r-kelly-mocked-naacp-image-awards-nominees-luncheon-1203159418/

“We cannot celebrate inclusion as long as we look at the foolishness on television, whether it’s R. Kelly or other unfortunate incidents,” [the organization’s president and CEO Derrick] Johnson said. “We must continue to uphold and uplift all of our creativity because it’s through our creative power that we will continue to lead the nation.”

For what's it worth, the NAACP also nominated "Surviving R. Kelly," the documentary exposing his despicable acts. At the time of this particular nomination (IIRC, he didn't win the award that year; he did however win two awards years later, the 2nd for a song performed by Whitney Houston) he was only charged and eventually acquitted.
