The new update features a redesigned sidebar for iPadOS and later, a new Discover tab for locating content to watch and read, and fullscreen video content support for larger Mac displays.

"We've made improvements to the look and feel of the Developer app across iPhone, iPad, and Mac to help you enjoy articles, videos, news and announcements, and past WWDC content," Apple said of the update.

If you use the Apple Developer app on macOS, I recommend you check the App Store for an update - one just shipped with big improvements for larger displays. Here's a comparison of the before and after pic.twitter.com/XPIiOdcgLl

Why does it read “compiling…” upon first launch? Is it doing a runtime compile or is that a joke?

    Definition of compile (Merriam Webster)

    transitive verb

1to compose out of materials from other documents, e.g., compile a statistical chart
2to collect and edit into a volume, e.g., compile a book of poems
3to build up gradually, e.g., compiled a record of four wins and two losses
4to run (something, such as a program) through a compiler

#1 applies perfectly to what Apple is doing on the page in question.
