HomeKit Insider

Belkin-owned Linksys has rolled out HomeKit support to yet another one of its Wi-Fi 6 routers. The AX4200 is now compatible with HomeKit, protecting your smart home devices and you by limiting their access to your local network, approved servers, or unrestricted.

Toshiba also updated its Insignia Fire TVs with HomeKit as well as AirPlay 2.

Listener questions

Bill T. asked on Twitter if there were any exterior HomeKit-capable motion sensors that he can use to control his lights. Philips Hue is the most likely solution here, but users can also use the motion sensors built into any outdoor HomeKit camera too.

Jon wondered if we had seen any signs of higher resolution video arriving with HomeKit. Currently, HomeKit cameras are capped at 1080p despite 2K and 4K resolution models available. It looks like even with Apple's forthcoming update, users will still be stuck at 1080p, though this could change at any time.

Finally, several users wrote in to comment on last week's question about four-way HomeKit circuits.
