John Lithgow joins cast of Apple TV+ original 'Killers of the Flower Moon'

Legendary actor John Lithgow is set to join the cast of Apple TV+ original "Killers of the Flower Moon," adding to an already star-studded cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons.

Lithgow will play the role of a prosecutor in the upcoming drama based on David Grann's bestselling book of the same name and adapted for the screen by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, reports Variety. Scorsese is directing.

Set in 1920s Oklahoma, "Killers of the Flower Moon" follows FBI agent Tom White (Plemons) as he investigates a string of murders within the Osage Nation that later became known as the "Reign of Terror." Ernest Burkhart. The role of White was originally written for DiCaprio, but the star pushed to change his part to Ernest Burkhart, the nephew of a powerful local rancher played by De Niro.

Last week, Apple welcomed the addition of Brendan Fraser, who will play lawyer WS Hamilton.

Lithgow, a two-time Oscar nominee, has won Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe awards, as well as a litany of other accolades for his work on the stage, television and film. Most recently, the actor was nominated for an Emmy for his turn on HBO series "Perry Mason."

Apple won rights to "Killers of the Flower Moon" in May 2020 after Paramount dropped the production.

Scorsese is producing for Apple Studios and Imperative Entertainment alongside Imperative's Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas for Appian Way Productions.
