Version 6.6.1 of NordVPN for macOS introduces a performance overhaul and an improved experience on Apple Silicon machines. Users can download the latest version of the app from the Mac App Store or from NordVPN directly.

Although NordVPN was usable on M1 Macs with Apple's Rosetta 2 technology, the native support will allow for overall better performance and an improved user experience. The latest version of the app will also continue to run smoothly on Intel-based Macs.

Apple is currently in the middle of transitioning its Mac lineup to proprietary Apple Silicon chips, which carries a number of benefits to users. App developers have been steadily updating their Mac apps to support Apple Silicon then.

NordVPN is one of the most well-known virtual private network services, which lets users browse the web securely through encryption and IP address obfuscation. In addition to macOS, the service is also supported on iOS, Android, Windows, and Linux.

A NordVPN subscription costs $11.95 a month or $119 annually, but there's a discounted rate for new subscribers. Version 6.6.1 of the app with native M1 support is a free download for current users.
