"The Changeling," based on the best-selling book by Victor LaValle, is described as a "fairytale for grown-ups." Apple says the drama series will involve a "horror story, a parenthood fable and a perilous odyssey through a New York City you didn't know existed."

The series will be written and adapted by Kelly Marcel, who will also serve as an executive producer and showrunner. Melina Matsoukas is set to direct and executive produce.

"The Changeling" will be produced for Apple by Annapurna and Apple Studios. Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, Patrick Chu, Ali Krug, and Khaliah Neal will also executive produce alongside Marcel, Matsoukas, and Stanfield.

Stanfield is known for his previous work on shows like "Atlanta," "Judas and the Black Messiah," and "The Harder They Fall." Matsoukas previously worked on projects like "Queen & Slim" and "Insecure."

The new series joins a growing slate of Apple Original films and shows on the company's streaming platforms, which includes upcoming Samuel L. Jackson series "The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray" and Martin Scorsese film "Killers of the Flower Moon."

Also a 1980 horror film with George C Scott. Neither are based on the same source material though.

Continuing Eastwood's streak of directing downers! Seriously - Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Changeling... the only movie of his I enjoyed from that phase was Gran Torino, which could very well have been the final Dirty Harry story.
