'Schmigadoon!' star Ariana DeBose joins Apple TV+ 'Argylle' movie
Forthcoming Apple TV+ spy thriller "Argylle" adds Tony-nominated Ariana DeBose, fresh from her role in the streamer's "Schmigadoon!" comedy.

Apple TV+ has previously signed a deal with director Matthew Vaughn and writer/producer Jason Fuchs for a thriller movie about a the world's greatest spy, Argylle. Based on Elly Conway's upcoming spy novel of the same name, it's hoped to lead to a series of movies.
Now according to Deadline, Ariana DeBose has joined the cast. It's not known yet what role she will play, but she will star alongside Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film will also feature the screen debut of Grammy winner Dua Lipa.
"We have assembled an absolutely stellar cast to inhabit each of the wonderfully original and captivating characters in this thrill ride of a story," Matthew Vaughn told Deadline. "We're so excited that production is now off and running, bringing us closer to sharing this epic action spectacle with audiences around the world."
DeBose was nominated for a Tony Award in 2018 for her portrayal of Donna Summer in "Summer: The Donna Summer Musical." She was an original cast member of "Hamilton," and is shortly to be seen in Steven Spielberg's "West Side Story."
Most recently, she played the school teacher Emma Tate in the Apple TV+ musical comedy, "Schmigadoon!".
Apple is believed to have paid around $200 million for the film. It is to be a coproduction between Apple Original Films and Marv Studios, Matthew Vaughn's company.
