Apple posts 'Celebrating Steve' special to YouTube

Apple commemorated the 10th anniversary of Steve Jobs' passing with a short film that traces the late tech guru's life and impact on the world. The special is now available on the company's YouTube channel.

"Celebrating Steve" took over Apple's webpage on Oct. 5, 10 years to the day since Jobs died following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

The nearly three-minute short features photographs, videos, quotes and soundbites that trace Jobs' life from the beginnings of Apple to his return after being ousted in 1985 and his last years with the company. Interspersed throughout are clips from famous product keynotes including the original Macintosh, iMac, iPod, MacBook Air and, of course, iPhone.





Following the debut of "Celebrating Steve" on Apple.com, Apple on Wednesday archived the film on its official YouTube channel.

On Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook issued a company-wide memo remembering Jobs and reminding staff of the monumental impact he had not only on Apple, but the technology industry and beyond. Former design chief Jony Ive also penned a remembrance that was published by The Wall Street Journal.

    Steve Jobs calls the computer the equivalent of a bicycle for our mind and Apple is working on building a car. I think this how deep Apple has fallen after Steve Jobs died.

    The current leadership at Apple know better than anyone what Apple's and Steve Jobs' future plans were and given their regular commemorations, they also have the utmost respect for it. Steve Jobs was a guiding influence which they clearly miss but they have the experience to do this on their own. Jony Ive who also has a deep interest in cars confirmed recently that he's still working on Apple projects as he said when he left:

    "There are products that we've been working on for a number of years — I’m beyond excited that I get to continue working on those. And there are some new projects as well that I'll get to develop and contribute to."

    There goes the dream that Steve Jobs was not that awful. And if Apple today is a variation of what Steve Jobs had in mind, maybe Steve Jobs wasn't right to begin with? MacOS became less usable over the last versions, at least for someone who doesn't own another Apple device  and when I tried to switch from Android to iOS it was an awful experience: sounds everywhere, inconsistent gestures, … Now I hoped Steve Jobs would at least have the right idea about the future of transport and mobility but sadly he also stucked in the 1960s :-(

    BTW Apple didn't wanted to build a huge parking garage for the new building but they had to because Cupertino still has minimum parking requirements.
