Apple Silicon Macs can have two HDMI displays with new Hyper docks

Apple Silicon MacBook Air or MacBook Pro owners aren't limited to one external display any more with two new HyperDrive 4K HDMI docks.

Hyper has released two new plug-and-play adapters that allow M1 Mac owners to use two 4K HDMI displays from a single USB-C connection.

Hyper achieved this by utilizing a hybrid USB Display design that combines DisplayPort Alt Mode and Silicon Motion InstantView plug-in-play video technology that requires no software drivers.

There are two 4K HDMI display adapters that you can choose from. The first is the HyperDrive Dual 4K HDMI 3-in-1 USB-C Adapter. This simple version allows you to attach two HDMI external monitors, one 4K at 60Hz, and one 4K at 30Hz, to your M1 Mac.

It's also compatible with Intel-based Macs, Windows PCs, and Chromebooks.

The ports on the 3-in-1 USB-C adapter include:

• HDMI 4K 60Hz


• HDMI 4K 30Hz


• USB-C PD 100W

The 90s called and want their screen vertical refresh rates back... I hope Apple fixes this in their next versions of their laptops. I would have bought an M1 MacBook Air[*] by now if it supported two screens, as one of the customer sites I'm frequently at has that setup.

[*] I like the weight and the lack of fans.  Processing power just isn't an issue these days, if I'm doing something intensive it's in the cloud anyways.
