Apple Card is extending 0% APR financing to customers who recently purchased an Apple product expecting to receive the payment option, which is available for most major items through the Apple Card Monthly Installments program.

Apple Card Monthly Installments

Apple and banking partner Goldman Sachs informed customers of the special exception in an email on Monday, saying 0% financing will be granted to people who bought an item thinking it would be eligible for Apple Card Monthly Installments.

"We understand that some customers expected to receive 0% APR financing automatically when purchasing Apple products with their Apple Card," the email reads. "If you expected to receive 0% APR financing with Apple Card Monthly Installments when purchasing an Apple product from either Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller, but you did not, we can help."

Apple Card Monthly Installments is an option offered to Apple Card customers on certain purchases made through Apple.com, the Apple Store app or at a brick-and-mortar Apple Store. Most major product lines, including iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac and AirPods and Apple TV, are considered eligible for monthly installments. Payment periods range from six months to 24 months, depending on the product.

The financing plan integrates with other Apple Card features like Daily Cash, and users can keep track of in monthly installments, remaining balance and payment history on a per-device basis in the Wallet app.

Last month, Apple addressed an Apple Card snafu that erroneously presented cardholders with 6% Daily Cash on certain items, double the usual amount. The company later said the rate was displayed in error, but agreed to honor the deal for those who made purchases.

I actually bought MacBook expecting the 0% interest rate but no, you have to specifically ask for it. I had to return my MacBook for a refund and then buy it again with installments. That was when I started using Apple Card when it first came out.  Now, Apple is more clear about requiring that I have to select for 0%. I thought it was an automatic 0% if I buy anything from Apple.

At the end of online checkout at the Apple store, there is a box to tick if you want to use 0% financing. It spells out the monthly payments and number of months of the plan.

Fellow US Veterans and Military should be aware they are not eligible for both the 10% discount available from Apple's Veterans and Military Purchase Program and the Store's 0% installment plans. When checking out from within the Program Store, there won't be the option to select 0% financing. So enter the V&M store for the discount or the regular Apple Store for 0% financing.

Yes, we're neighbours but we have very separate banking systems. But more generally, Apple doesn't seem to be in a hurry to introduce Apple Card in any other countries. I may be mistaken, but I believe it's only available in the U.S. at the moment.

But, yes, I would like to have one here in Canada as well.

For additional features for the Apple Card, I'd like to see the option to generate a one time credit card number that expires after on use. I've heard tell a few credit cards already have this feature.

I think they already do this: Per Google:

Again, neither Apple nor your device sends your actual payment card number. Before they approve the payment, your bank, card issuer, or payment network can verify your payment information by checking the dynamic security code to make sure that it's unique and tied to your device.
If that is what I  am thinking you are referring to. Generate random 16 digit number so your real card number is never transmitted.

That's pretty groovy.  Though I wonder if Apple are even planning on releasing outside the USA at this point.
