Bring it on as long as it doesn't make the camera bump any bigger. I find it odd that even with the Apple cover the bump still protrudes out so the phone never lies absolutely flat. It's the first iPhone to do that (with the case on) and it seems very un-Apple to me.
Not laying 100% flat doesn't matter to me. That's an idealistic stance rather than pragmatic one. In my pocket, it doesn't matter. In my hands, it doesn't matter. Looking at my photos of loved ones, it doesn't matter. Use cases for operating the phone as it lays on a table with no hands are not very common in my life. I just tried it and it rocks slightly but not enough for me to care. But others may not like it.
Fixed that for you. Your experience isn't a fact, it's an opinion. There are people who - as amazing as it may seem - don't feel the same way you do about something.
Nah, you're just making more of the same idealistic arguments that don't matter to most anyone. It's not a "please all the people all the time" game, sooner you realize (in life, really) the happy you will be (and the less butthurt moanings we will have to read over & over). Most people care more about good looking pictures, not having the iPhone not move when laid flat on a table for some stupid reason.

The pragmatic stance is that a set of lenses protruding from the main body of the device = greater chance of damage to said lenses.
As for the comment regarding the megapixel bump only for marketing. I will leave this here. This phone was released in 2013, has a 41 mp camera, and still holds it's own today against 2021 flagships. So, if apple is going to use a 48mp camera, I am going to go out on a very small limb and say the images from that sensor will be amazing. I will go out on an even shorter limb and state that this will be a turning point for iPhone pictures.
