It has always seemed to me that the 13th was a bit optimistic. If Jaguar is scheduled for the 24th (as rumoured here and elsewhere), why would the new Power Macs be intro'd on the 13th? I'm betting on the 24th for the new power macs. Don't hold your breath for tomorrow.

Reports are flowing in that stores already have the boxed 10.2 (see thinksecret) so if Apple can get the boxed versions out to the stores then why couldn't they also have the CD's ready for inclusion in new PowerMac's they are pumping out?
Sounds like a bit of rampant speculation to me... still... you cant get a Dual Gighz Pmac for love or money online at any UK reseller today.... So heres hoping!

There's a report on xlr8 of some reader recieving his iBook today, and 10.2 upgrade CDs were included.
PowerMacs can ship anyday now. And the fact that GM was early might even be an indication that they're ready to roll.
""It would be crazy to expect strong growth at this moment, therefore we aim to break even in the next quarter," Pascal Cagni, Apple's general manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, told La Stampa.
He said the group has prepared new products, including a flat 17-inch screen, and fresh price initiatives which would help boost sales. "

Hey, this is the new processor "FPI:fresh price initiative:Fastest Processor Invented", the dual PM at 1000$ .... YES !!!!
I don't see any pieces falling together except for long wait times. Nothing conclusive for a "BIG" update. Xserve-style DDR RAM maybe, but nothing more than that and a small bump. Sorry but I don't see them redesigning the mobo and not telling the press about a Special Event.

I just read an interesting perspective in another forum on why there is no special event. The person said that it may be to break the cycle of nosediving powermac sales that typically happen before Macworlds.
Sounds reasonable to me. Whether this is the case is another story...
Well, due to a slight crisis (my family's business was broken in to over the weekend, and they swiped the G4 server), my brother was checking on delivery availability with Apple today, and was told:
a) 5-7 days "it was just extended"
b) When he immediately asked "What are you replacing it with?" he got a laugh and "You've been around a while, haven't you?"
c) Was told to check back on the Apple Store web site in the next day or two for updates.
Needless to say, he's waiting 48 hours to order to see what happens.

seems quite pertinent to pMacs too. as in:
Facts:
1. powerMacs are mammals.
2. powerMacs fight ALL the time.
3. the purpose of the powerMac is to flip out and kill people.
i can barely wait for the new mewMacs.

Sorry, not very clear...
He meant base spec as the entry level G4, so that means the 'good' model.
Not sure if he *really* knows anything more than we do, but just thought I would pass it along...

I'm not the person being questioned, but I think "base" means "low-end".
