    Apple uses students and schools to off load inventory, but I doubt this is a sure sign of coming updates...it is a decent deal though.

    The education promo runs through September 25. September 26th is a Thursday so it's possible new PowerBooks will be available. That's also around the time the last schools start up though, so it might just be an innocent little promotion to entice students.

    Todays announcement says 2 things to me:



    1) Apple doesn't feel 'true' DDR is essential (with the PPC they might be right).

    2) Motorola has no intention of adding DDR to the G4.



    I think this means updated Powerbooks will be limited to speed bumps until we switch to IBM 100% (they now have an AltiVec like vector unit).



    I think I might buy a Ti800...
