Apple issues fifth macOS Monterey 12.3 developer beta
Apple has handed developers a fifth beta build of macOS Monterey 12.3 to try out on their Macs and MacBooks.
The latest builds can be downloaded by developers in the beta-testing scheme via the Apple Developer Center, or as an over-the-air update for hardware already using earlier beta builds. A public beta version usually follows shortly after the developer variant, and will be available through the Apple Beta Software Program website.
The fifth build lands after the fourth, which appeared on February 22. The third build was distributed on February 15, the second on February 8, and the first on January 27.
Universal Control is the main feature addition this time around, which allows a user to use their Mac's keyboard, trackpad,and mouse on a nearby iPad running iPadOS 15.4.
AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don't install the betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.
