LG Display is reportedly investing in development of two different OLED displays, aiming to become Apple's supplier for both 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models.

As Samsung works to win Apple orders through a new two-stack OLED panel, LG Display is now reportedly working on two different models. Also using two-stack tandem structures, the models are presumably the same technology, but being made for two different sizes.

According to The Elec, LG is the exclusive developer of the larger 12.9-inch display, but faces competition from Samsung on the 11-inch model. The publication comments that LG will have the advantage if it is able to produce both sizes.

There have been many previous reports about OLED screens on the iPad. These include Apple initially dropping Samsung, and LG expanding its production facilities.

Separately, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple will avoid including an OLED screen in the iPad Air while that remains a differentiator between it and the 11-inch iPad Pro.

According to The Elec, and backed up by previous reports, Apple expects to launch its first iPads with OLED panels in 2024.
