    OMFG

    OMFG

Check this out. My wife, through her connections, offers to give Steve a tour of where she works. Now I don't want to say too much because I don't want to jinx it but my wife works in one place in Chicago that Steve may actually want to see. I don't know how far up the flag pole this went but she was told to "be ready Friday morning" just in case.

That's awesome Scott. Make sure you let us know what happens (and where your wife works).

Just a word of advice: If you get to meet Steve, don't act too "starstruck". I could tell he hated it when I met him last year.

    Sucks to be you!!

Well, Steve will probably be there all night, so you can still see him. You will definitely be able to go to the store, since they are staying open til 11.

When I was in Chicago we went to eat a RL which I believe is right on Michigan Avenue, the food was pretty good, but not worth the money.

Yea I looked at the menu there and thought, "They got to be kidding?". Grand Lux is good and price doesn't make you walk away. Houston's is always good. Cost more but it's good food. Heaven on Seven is there too. Big Bowl changed the menu and it's not as good as it used to be. Then up at WT my wife like Mity Nice but I'm not as hip on it.

flat sammies is good (across from hancock), or better yet walk to the billy goat (under the wrigley building) and eat cheeseboiga's and drink one for royko.

I was there. We got there around 3:00 and were fairly close in the line, considering how long it was. We got in with the first batch and stayed for about 2 1/2 hours. I took tons of pictures and video that I'm gonna sort through later.

Didn't see Steve Jobs there, but i did see Ron Johnson as i was walking out.

Yup time zone. My watch is east

Anyway the store looks great. No G5! There seemed to be a mix of die hards and potential switchers. I guess I was foolish but I thought the "internet cafe" would have the "cafe" part but didn't. Wouldn't that be great? My wife and I plugged in here flash card and printed out about a dozen pictures on Apple's printer.

    Ideas I have
    • As tourist come in snap their picture and print it out on a post card. People love their own picture and you can have "www.apple.com" and maybe feature a product on it.

    • Have a wall of real mac users and switchers. Take my picture. Print it out with "Scott - Physicist - Lime iMac & PowerBoook G4 - Mac user since 1982" Or my wife "Carol - Architect - iBook - Mac user since 19XX" Or "Joe Blow - Dancer - iMac 17 - Switcher"

    • I'm starting to think they should sell cell phone service as well.

Oh and the best part? As I was walking out the greeter was talking to the girl coming who asked "Why were there people lined up to get in here this morning"
