No way they would remove the sim slot. Everyone in Asia has multiple SIM cards would kill the product dead.
eSIM.. you can use multiple eSIM's with iPhone 13 currently. You can use only one eSIM another physical nano-SIM in earlier models.

Using Dual SIM with an eSIM

An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM. With iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 mini, you can use Dual SIM with either two active eSIMs or a nano-SIM and an eSIM. iPhone 12 models, iPhone 11 models, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, feature Dual SIM with a nano-SIM and an eSIM.1

And you can have many eSIMs in the same space you currently have a single eSIM with a fast and safe UI to switch the eSIM, as well as a fast and simple QR code or other such method to input the data into your phone.

It's weird that people here are still so hung up on this antiquated solution that they can't even see how it could be better in every way by simply doing what Apple already started.
