I don't think I would call it a "big flop". More akin to the original HomePods disappointing adoption. But, they have to start somewhere... I look forward to seeing Meta's reactions and then one of them mumbling something to the tune of "we better start over".
Apple May have started over several times during their development process. They try not to release half-baked products. So my guess it’ll be Meta, if either is going to have to start over.
I recall Tim Cook saying that what Apple will be remembered for will be its contributions to human health. That’s a profound statement given the iPhone is the most successful product in history.
Perhaps Apple will initially apply this technology to surgery or medical research. It sure doesn’t seem to me that Apple is developing such sophisticated technology in order to break into the high-end gaming market, after leaving that market to other dedicated gaming hardware for decades.
