The legal music mentioned was alluding to an Apple partnered music service/store. I think it's still a rumor though. I've been using Rhapsody for a while. It's decent but too expensive at a $1 per burned track.
I've tried Acquisition, Neo (supposedly accesses the Kazaa network) and LimeWire. Only LimeWire actually finds anything, ever. Acquisition never does. Neither does Neo. What's funny is that the two that don't work have excellent interfaces, and LimeWire works fine but the interface is horrible and slow. Seems like the guy who makes Acquisition spent more time making it pretty than he did actually trying to get it to work. Anyway, my brother says it works even though I never can get it to work right.
There's also a Mac-only network called Carracho. Not many servers, but it's usually a good place to find... ahem... "stuff."
I tried Acquisition last night, for the first time in months. I couldn't believe how many hits I was getting... it was awesome.
I've seen it get 0 hits on broad search terms in the past though. I'm guessing the user base isn't as large as other networks (Kazaa), so it's going to have off nights.
