New and existing owners of the Backbone One controller will be able to redeem the "Adventurer's Pack Premium" for free -- a $10 value. In addition, Backbone players have an optimized gameplay experience built around the controller and its features.

"Diablo Immortal" is Blizzard's first attempt at a full-length mobile game set in the Diablo universe. It officially launched on the Apple App Store on June 2 as a free download on iPhone and iPad.

Set in between the events of "Diablo II" and "Diablo III," "Diablo Immortal" is an MMORPG where players work together in an epic quest to prevent the Lord of Terror's return. Customize your character, gather the best gear, and take on challenging dungeons in this new take on the classic game.

The game has external controller support, but can be played via the touch screen. In-game interface elements have been arranged so they play best with Backbone devices. For example, the menu and options buttons open the appropriate menus without user configuration.

The Adventurer's Pack Premium contains:
  • 10 Relic Keys
  • 100 Culling Stones
  • 5 Reforge Stone
  • 2 Specialized Reforge Stones
  • 5 Gem Power

  • Backbone One owners must be Backbone+ subscribers in order to redeem the in-game content. This is an annual subscription service attached to the controller that costs $50 a year, but all new owners get one year free automatically.

Navigate to the "Diablo Immortal" tile in the Backbone One app to redeem the in-game unlock.

Order the Backbone One and get a year of Backbone+, the "Diablo" in-game item, and other perks for $99 on the Backbone website. Read on AppleInsider

Backbone+ adds an obnoxious $50/year subscription fee to what would otherwise be a pretty decent game controller.
Diablo Immortal adds obnoxious whale-hunting monetization schemes to what would otherwise be a pretty decent game.
If these companies made ice cream they would figure out some way to include a hot manure sauce mix-in.
