"Loot" is a comedy about the downfall of billionaire Molly Novak, who sees her life spiraling out of control after her husband betrays her. After the public downfall, Novak discovers she has a charity foundation, which leads to a journey of self-discovery.

The series is written by and stars Emmy Award winner Maya Rudolph, and is created by Emmy Award-winning creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard.

"Thanks to Maya, Alan, Matt, and the entire incredibly talented "Loot" cast and creative team who have created a show filled with captivating and endearing characters, and hilarious and heartwarming moments throughout each episode," said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. "This show has captured the hearts of global audiences, and we can't wait for season two."

The series premiered on June 24, with the first season consisting of 10 episodes.

It joins a growing slate of comedies on Apple TV+, including "Ted Lasso," "Physical," and "Mythic Quest"

The show fits the profile of “workplace comedy” but the writing is sharper and the acting better than I expected. Every episode thus far has been well-plotted and -written.

Glad there will be a Season 2.

After watching the trailer I wasn't sure if this show would interest me that much. It seemed like a standard "workplace comedy" with the billionaire story thrown in to differentiate it.
But as you've stated the writing and acting are so good. And there is much more depth to the story than I was expecting. There are some very well written characters and I'm enjoying this show much more than I expected.

Apple's rapidly approaching the point where there is more than enough content for one person to watch. It won't take many more high-quality shows to appeal to a wide-enough range of viewers.

The one thing Apple won't do is deliberately choose shows that are played just to have something playing on the TV. Some viewers may describe certain shows as such, but Apple is looking for best-of-breed in the shows that appeal to a given demographic. So far they're doing very well.
