I can wait. I worked for Apple in purchasing for 12 years, and never quite got why people would camp out overnight to be the first to get a shiny new Apple product. Sure, they do a great job of pumping demand. But I can make do with my previous gen devices for a month or two.
Many people buy new iPhone as early as possible. Because they have a special purpose using the iPhone.
They have a special purpose for the iPhone 14 that the iPhone 13 couldn't handle???

I can't see why Apple isn't actively engaged with the Chinese government to persuade them to allow the Pfizer vaccine and with Pfizer to acquire about 350,000 doses at-a-time to get everyone at Foxconn vaccinated. Like, three months ago!
Xi believes that reliance on Western medicine will be seen as a failure of his Government, hence why China is still fucking around with their own mRNA vaccine, as their Sinovac vaccine is decidedly ineffective in comparison to Western mRNA vaccines.
Exactly. Also, I suspect apple is discovering they have far less influence with the Chinese government than they did back in 2010. The ‘good old days’ are gone for as long as Xi is in power.
Well, consider what US government did to Huawei, CCP is actually very considerate to Apple.
It's really time for Apple to put the time and money into developing robotic manufacturing. Robots don't get sick or not show up to work. They could even do this here in the States. Robots don't have salaries and they don't unionize.
Well, if you know how to do it, why don't you create a startup? You will become a billionaire.

I'm sure that is the future. All smartphones have robotic assembly to some degree but levels will increase for sure.
However, for that to happen, the infrastructure and services that run on it need to be implemented. China is ahead in that regard. South Korea too.

Don’t forget the supposed agreement that Tim Cook cooked up with China:
I can't see why Apple isn't actively engaged with the Chinese government to persuade them to allow the Pfizer vaccine and with Pfizer to acquire about 350,000 doses at-a-time to get everyone at Foxconn vaccinated. Like, three months ago!
Yeah, let's get those factory workers vaccinated, vaccinated, vaccinated, and more vaccinated, so they can get ill with SARS-CoV2 and transmit it.
House arrest is not the way to go, unless they want to punish the workers.
I see you’re one of those. I’ll not waste my day trying to convince you of the merits of science.
Still plenty of shutdowns to be had in authoritative governments, as though they haven’t figured out what the rest of the first world already has: Covid-19 was no deadlier than the flu, shutdowns didn’t work, and the vaccine isn’t.
1 million Americans died of Covid in 2 years. About 20-30,000 die in a year from the flu. Stop spreading lies.

Yes, the good old days of PLA organs spying on the US and undermining our national security without any consequences are also over.
There are actually good reasons for Apple to have less influence in China -- for example, suppose the Chinese government gave a crap about their people and demanded higher pay and better working conditions from all employers in the country. Suppose the Chinese government provided retirement income and medical support like the US social security and medicare (I presume a European standard is beyond China's reach), and paid for it with taxes on employers. Apple might not like stuff like that, but I personally think such policy changes would be great for China and great for the world.
China could have chosen a path towards greater freedom and prosperity but instead they are going down a 'Make China Great Again' fascist death spiral. It's certainly possible that the US will also choose a fascist death spiral, but I'm cautiously optimistic that we will ultimately avoid it (though there are likely still many bumps in the road).

That has probably expired if it wasn't secretly renewed.
