It was a big week for smart home aficionados as Matter held a launch event in Amsterdam. The CSA announced several pieces of news related to the Matter platform and many partner brands were on hand with announcements of their own.

Amazon, Samsung, Signify, and Eve were among the big players that had product demos and announcements to make. We covered plenty of other announcements too from smaller brands as they became available.

Your hosts break down how the Matter rollout will work and when devices will become available. We talk about which devices will receive firmware updates with Matter support and what new devices are going to be launching.

    I'm struggling with this headline:

Matter launches and supported devices get made official

Can someone explain to me what it's trying to say? It's very awkward language.

I’m assuming that many device vendors have already submitted evidence that their devices met the requirements that were stated in the Matter specification that was in force at the time they completed their verification process. But until the Matter specification itself reached final approval, all of those verifications were contingent. Now that the specification is approved, the contingency is lifted, i.e., everything is now official..
