The company's first product is an over-the-counter device with an app that measures blood pressure without a cuff or calibration. It's still waiting for FDA clearance, but Valencell's technology is already found in other products, such as those from Samsung, Bose, Huawei, Sony, and others.

Valencell's first chronic disease management solution aims to help those with hypertension better and more regularly measure blood pressure and maintain treatment compliance.

The company is designing a device to measure blood pressure in less than a minute using photoplethysmography (PPG) that detects reflected light to measure blood flow patterns.

Proprietary AI algorithms, developed from PPG datasets comprising more than 7,000 patients, will be used to process this information with physical characteristics such as age, weight, gender, and height to calculate a blood pressure measurement. Diastolic and systolic results are then displayed on the device's built-in screen and transmitted via Bluetooth to the app.

The mobile app has been designed to track and store readings and allow users to set reminders to take their blood pressure. Users will also have the ability to view trends over time, track the frequency of their measurements, and download and share data.

Pricing & Availability

Valencell has not released a timeline for product launch, but they expect it to retail at $99.

Now I see a higher chance for Apple Watch to get blood pressure measurement functionality soon.

I didn't realize Samsung already came out with a watch capable of blood pressure tracking. I wonder how accurate it is. Sony and Bose are also mentioned but a quick Google has provided no evidence of any BP devices from them...
Apple will obviously have it in the Apple Watch either this year or next. And if you follow existing comparisons of AW's accuracy in heart rate tracking to other watches, Apple's BP monitoring will be much better than any competitors once released.

I'm not sure that it's obvious but I hope you are right.  It's obviously a good thing.  Having this built into the watch will make blood pressure immensely easier to track and perhaps it will pop up with heart rate on Fitness+ workouts, etc.
