"Foundation" season two out in 2023

Apple hasn't shared a specific date yet, but the trailer says it will arrive in the summer of 2023. Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, "Foundation" chronicles a group of exiles on their journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.

It stars SAG Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Jared Harris as Dr. Hari Seldon, Emmy Award nominee Lee Pace as Brother Day, Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick, Leah Harvey as Salvor Hardin, Laura Birn as Demerzel, Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk, Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn, and Alfred Enoch as Raych.

Skydance Television is producing the series for Apple, with Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross serving as executive producers. David S. Goyer leads the project as showrunner and executive producer.

In February 2022, Apple announced the addition of 10 new cast members to the series for season two. They include Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, Ella-Rae Smith, Dimitri Leonidas, Ben Daniels, Holt McCallany, Mikael Persbrandt, Rachel House, and Nimrat Kaur.

Season one of "Foundation" debuted on Apple TV+ in in September 2021 and wrapped up in November. Apple renewed the show for a second season in October.

Dang. Why the long wait between seasons? It completely kills the momentum.

By the time it rolls around, the market for it will be different as a result.

I think streaming services are going to have
to commit to two services up front and decide on the third season halfway through the first if they want IPs to thrive. Otherwise interest wanes during the droughts and people move on to other IPs. Then launch the third season in close proximity to the second. It’s a nice recipe that will work - the lone exception being Amazon’s Rings of Power which cost ridiculous amounts of money for such poor quality return.

The trick is to rewatch season 1 shortly before season 2 arrives. (But I suspect you already know that!) 😄🤣🙃

Yeah, Yellowstone’s supposed mid-season finale was Sunday night and it won’t be until summer until the rest of the season starts. We were left with Jamie and Beth now considering wacking each other to ‘save’ the ranch.

Wonderful news! I’ve been waiting excitedly since the end of Season 1 (which I re-watched) for Season 2.

As I grew up in the 70s when people naturally had to wait between one series and another, I have patience. I think this is in mortal danger these days when everything has to be now, now, now or people loose interest, whether it’s Amazon rather than having to go to a shop, McDonalds rather than home cooking, supermarket “bread” rather than making it yourself … or Foundation Series 2 not following about a month or two after the end of Series 1.

Some things are worth waiting for. I firmly believe that Foundation is one of them.

It takes time to film the episodes. Game of Thrones was a year between seasons too:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Game_of_Thrones_episodes
    https://www.ladbible.com/entertainment/film-and-tv-game-of-thrones-final-season-battle-took-11-weeks-to-film-20190304

Getting all the actors on location on the same schedule, scripts read, sets built can easily take a week per episode. That's 10 weeks of shooting per season. Then huge amounts of post-production per episode, easily another 10 weeks.

TV show Supernatural crew said 2 weeks per episode turnaround:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/anv4qd/we_are_the_vfx_crew_of_the_tv_show_supernatural/

Best case they'd be able to do it in 6 months but given the location filming and size of the crew on location, I'm not surprised it's a year between seasons. It mentions 18-19 months for season one at the following site and it was suspended for 7 months for Covid so it looks like they have around a 12 month production cycle:

They plan to do 8 seasons so it will be 2029 when the last season airs:

I will wait until the last season and then binge watch all in one shot. :D

What's the holdup for Ted Lasso...?  At one point, it was supposed to be released in Oct/Nov of 2022, and here we are post-world-cup, and still nothing.
