Delta has announced a new partnership with T-Mobile that brings free in-flight Wi-Fi to SkyMiles members. The service will begin rolling out officially on February 1 to select aircraft, and it is expected to be available on all domestic flights by the end of 2023.

"At T-Mobile, we believe staying connected while traveling should be an easy, seamless experience," said Mike Sievert, T-Mobile CEO. "T-Mobile customers already get free in-flight Wi-Fi, and now we're partnering with Delta to bring that experience to all SkyMiles Members so that anyone flying Delta can enjoy online access from takeoff to touchdown."

The free Wi-Fi service will expand to international and regional routes by the end of 2024. Customers will have access to Wi-Fi, all flight long, for an unlimited number of devices.

A SkyMiles membership is free, so customers need to simply sign in or sign up once onboard their flight. The experience will be expanded in the spring to bring a more personalized in-flight hub with exclusive offers and entertainment options.

To take advantage of in-flight Wi-Fi, passengers will need to turn on Airplane Mode, then turn on Wi-Fi. After that, choose the DeltaWiFi.com network and sign into SkyMiles in a browser. No additional app install is needed.

AppleInsider will be covering the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in person on January 2 through January 8 where we're expecting Wi-Fi 6e devices, HomeKit, Apple accessories, 8K monitors and more. This is very overdue. All airlines should just have WiFi that you connect to and use at this point. It’s ridiculous how this continues to go on as a commodity.

Thank you Delta. You need one trailblazer and rest will follow. Hope, one day all International flights have free WiFi for Text/Message, but without Calling feature. You don't want many people for hours loudly talk to their family, friends, business on phone and disturb other passengers on plane. Free calling can result in chaos on plane.

JetBlue has offered free inflight Wi-Fi for years but I’m glad to see other airlines finally adding this feature. Hopefully they’ll all have it soon
