The title is a port of the 2021 remastered original, which has been available to play on PC and Oculus headsets.

Myst Mobile is compatible with iPhones and iPads with A12 bionic chips and newer. This includes iPhone models such as iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR and newer.

Created 30 years ago, the legendary puzzle game Myst was a commercial success and even helped accelerate the sale of CD-ROM drives.

Myst Mobile is available to download for free, allowing players to explore the game's first location without restriction. To unlock the rest of the game, it will cost $14.99, though Cyan Worlds is running a launch promotion that enables players to access the full game for $9.99.

    Downloading now.
I want to add that because they say right upfront that they do not collect user data, I am MORE likely to purchase the game.

A12 bionic or greater?  Says it’s a no-go on iPad mini 5. BTW, this was originally made on HyperCard.

A little stuttery on my iPhone 11. Smooth as silk on my M1 iPad.

Yes indeed! As a former HyperCard "developer" I recall how the arrival of Myst fueled hopes on HC forums that Apple would continue development of HC 3.0 with much needed new features. Alas, between the advent of the WWW, the return of Steve Jobs to Apple, and development of OS X,  HC 3.0 was simply not to be. Many HC folks eventually moved on to Objective-C, myself included, thus my username: hcrefugee.

On the plus side, when I met my wife-to-be in grad school, we played Myst together, and as a result of the game play, realized (among other things) that the way we thought, approached, and solved problems
complemented each other. Unlike the demise of HyperCard, we are still going strong 30 years later. And we still have our original Myst CD in the bookcase!

On first look it’s slightly disappointing on iPad Air 4. Speed is excellent, a little too fast actually but textures aren’t as good as I expected.
The first time I played this was on a ppc Mac, it came free with the machine, then I bought real myst which was a bit flaky. For anyone who hasn’t played it’s an excellent game.
I’ll probably still buy it as it’s 33% off for a limited time.

    A couple of final thoughts:

It is gorgeous. They used the Unreal engine and put every tiny detail you can imagine. Little things like a spot of bird poop on one of the structures, or a missing screw or a crack somewhere, leaves moving in the breeze as you walk around. Makes you realize how far graphics have come.

This comes at a price. It really sucks battery on my iPad. This thing is working hard to compute every moment, every step, every leaf moving in the wind, the moving waves rendered in exquisite detail, of every scene as you are actively walking around.

They stayed true to the original in one way: There is no autosave, not when you change worlds, not when you leave. I forgot this, played for half an hour and then was surprised when I went back later, to find that I was starting over. Remember to save.

I managed to get the app on my iPhone SE2 and then got it on the mini5 through purchased apps... weird.

Great handle!  BTW I still have a rig that runs Hypercard!  And all my Expanded Books! I was using RunRev until they started charging for hobbyists.

I had a short-lived side gig coding tools in HC which I christened "Pancake Technologies:  We Know How To Stack'em!"

Also worked on IIGS development as an Apple ATG External Research site.  If you ever doubted the value of Apple dev tools, HyperCard GS was a 4 hour port from the Mac version.

    Cheers!

Mine auto saves but not consistently and I’m not sure when it does or doesn’t.

I am running into a different issue, though, and haven’t found a solution. Setting the clock tower to the proper time isn’t revealing the gears in the water that act as a bridge to the tower. I’ve tried it several times, changed the clock to different times and back but nothing seems to work so I’m sorta stuck where I am.
