Like most people, I think a nice "split the middle and be happy" laptop from Apple would be the 15" (15.4") PowerBook WITH the new features/materials of the 17" model (aluminum, FireWire 2, Bluetooth, illuminated keyboard, better AirPort reception, etc.).
