It’s ok for the story to warn people about the dangers of confronting a thief. It is dangerous. And it’s ok for an owner to confront a thief. It’s their choice. Glad this owner was prepared. As for police, they are underfunded and over worked and they don’t care about you and yours as much as you do. And to the people that think only the government should have guns, in the US we are the government. Ours is a government by the people and for the people.

To paraphrase Homer Simpson's claim about alcohol:

"Ah guns. The cause of and solution to all of life's problems."

For the numbskulls who say well done, now the truck owner is facing murder charges, prison, crazy legal bills. Yeah, it’s annoying to have a car stolen. Don’t be an idiot. Call the cops. There are enough stories of cops recovering cars and bikes to shut up the idiots who claim cops won’t do anything.
It's Texas. I'm guessing the owner/shooter will never face charges. Vehicular theft = 21st century cattle rustling: "Hangin's too good for 'em."
