Developers can access the latest betas by registering for the beta testing program or updating their hardware running the beta operating systems via the Apple Developer Center. Public beta versions are also typically available through the Apple Beta Software Program shortly after developer releases.

The new iOS and iPadOS 16.5 betas, with the build number 20F5059a, follow the third updates Apple released on April 25 with build 20F5050f.

Few changes have been uncovered in iOS 16.5 so far, save for a Sports tab in the News app and asking Siri to start recording the screen.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
