Apple Vision Pro developer kits will be made available eventually, and to a select crowd

Developers will be able to apply for an Apple Vision Pro developer kit, but no details are available yet.

Apple's next platform is spatial computing, and the Apple Vision Pro is the first step into that future. Developers will need to prepare their apps for the new product line, but the headset won't be available until early 2024.

Without access to the hardware, developers will have a hard time building and testing their apps for the visionOS platform. Apple plans to help solve this problem with an Apple Vision Pro developer kit.

However, it isn't clear what shape this developer kit will take. In 2020, when Apple began its transition to Apple Silicon, a Developer Transition Kit was available in a Mac mini case.

Apple hasn't provided details beyond the developer kits' existence. The developer website suggests applications for the developer kit will appear soon, maybe in July.

Developers will also be able to request App review to perform an Apple Vision Pro compatibility evaluation. Apple will also provide developer labs for in-person instruction across six locations worldwide: Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.

The Apple Vision Pro headset won't be available to purchase until early 2024. It starts at $3,499 and has options for accessories.

Maybe this will convince major CAD design software makers other than Autodesk to support macs , and the vision pro by extension for AR of imagery.

Another fantastic opportunity is remote healthcare. A community nurse could wear this and directly consult with a speech pathologist back in the office, for example. The Royal Flying Doctor Service integrated with Starlink would have an immediate demand for this.

problem is the same as games they rely too much on internal custom scripting and even more so for Pro apps like CAD user generated custom scripting that is basically unshipable under appstore rules. So no access to anything but Mac itself.

Apple needs to work out how to sandbox or be comfortable with those environments in the security model for CAD/BIM and other workflows and fun flows to be on these devices.

Really surprised no word this year on a move.

Liked the message the keynote ended on.

The adult in the room was the Vision Pro.
The other person was just a little kid, the Other wannabes.
    The actions came across as:
    You've been served.
    Your (really you are) toast.
Then Apple stuck their collective tongue back out at them.
     :p

It’s an intriguing device, to be sure. The animated virtual image for video apps like Teams is intriguing.

I can see it now, a music video with a room filled with orderly rows of vision pro wearers head banging away.
Hmm, maybe a bit creepy, especially in B&W.

Doubtful that Apple will allow anything in their store, so you'll be limited to what can be delivered over the web.  And in that case I'm not sure that VisionPro will be able to deliver anything a whole lot better than what is already available.

Dimming your pronography and showing your eyes when a family better enters the room?

I wondered about this also. They’ve now brought up pornography a couple of times, but never explain how it will be revolutionized with Vision. VR porn has existed for a while now, and it will likely be several years before any meaningful numbers are using the Vision to access it. And even then it will only be available through the web or potential 3rd party app stores. So, what the hell is this so-called revolution and how is it supposed to happen?

Pretty sure Apple hasn't claimed it will revolution porn or even mentioned it. Definitely not their bag.

By “they” I was referring to Xixo’s post above, I’ve seen a few posts from that person about porn, lol. Must be pretty important to him/her, I guess.
