Sihoo Doro C300 Ergonomic Office Chair review: extra lumbar support where you need it

If you suffer from aches and pains from sitting at your desk all day, the Sihoo Doro C300 may be the fix you're looking for -- provided you're the right size.

Working a desk job is surprisingly hard on your body. Long periods of inactivity can cause muscle stiffness, back pain, and increased fatigue -- the list goes on and on.

While we encourage you to get up and move around as much as your job allows, a good chair can help carry you through those times when getting up isn't an option.

Today we're looking at the Sihoo Doro C300 Ergonomic Office Chair, which is another offering from Sihoo, who made one of our all-time favorite office chairs, the Sihoo M18, to see how it compares.

Sihoo Doro C300 - Putting it all together

The assembly of the chair was straightforward, with clear instructions provided. It went together in just under 30 minutes with no major snags.

Sihoo thoughtfully includes at least one or two extra pieces for each part required to assemble the chair, which we greatly appreciated.

It is worth noting that this chair is heavy, so you may want to have two people on hand when it comes time to lift the chair's seat onto the legs.

When assembling the chair, having a rubber mallet to help tap in the caster wheels is helpful. Otherwise, you'll run the risk of pinching your fingers when trying to seat them properly.

We also suggest assembling the chair on a rug or towel to prevent it from rolling away from you while you screw in the arms and back.

Sihoo Doro C300 - Design & Function

In terms of build quality, the chair seems extremely sturdy. The frame feels solid, and with minor upkeep, we assume that it'll last for a long time. It's rated for users up to 300 pounds, too.

The caster wheels rolled well on both hardwood and short-pile rugs. High-pile rugs, however, presented a problem for it, though that is to be expected with most chairs.

The seat is a little over 20 inches wide and 16.5 inches long. Our testers found this to be more than adequate for their needs.

The seat has a minimum height of 15.75 inches and a maximum of 17.72 inches, which might make it too short for especially tall users.

The lumbar support is -- in a word -- significant. This is great if you need a lot of lumbar support, but it isn't adjustable. Because it's not adjustable, we don't suggest snagging this chair if you are unsure how much lumbar support you need.

The chair's mesh design is one of the best aspects. It allows for a lot of airflow, which keeps you cool and comfortable. It takes a little getting used to when sitting on it, as it certainly has a bit of that hammock-like feel to it, but at no point was it uncomfortable.

There were a few spots where the chair fell short for us.

We didn't love the arms. While they are easily adjustable, that may not be a good thing. We noticed that we easily knocked them out of place when sitting or moving the chair. This became frustrating if we were mid-task and accidentally knocked an arm askew and needed to reposition it.

There's also the headrest issue. If you're a shorter individual, chances are the headrest will just be a point of frustration, if you can even use it at all.

Our shorter tester, who stands 5'2, could not comfortably use the headrest as it would simply push the very top of her head forward.

There's not much to be done for it aside from tipping it back and out of the way. So, again, this is a decent chair with a somewhat limited audience.

Who the Sihoo Doro C300 Ergonomic Office Chair is for

If you are a person of average or slightly above average height and average or slightly above average weight, the Sihoo Doro C300 is probably a solid chair. This is especially true if you know you need extra lumbar support to feel comfortable throughout the day.

However, if you're taller than 6'2 or shorter than 5'4, you might find that the chair falls outside of your comfort zone.

Sihoo Doro C300 Pros

  • Mesh allows for good airflow

  • Very sturdy construction

Sihoo Doro C300 Cons

Rating: 3 out of 5
