    • In the News app the text/font size is stored INDIVIDUALLY AND SEPARATELY, FOR EVERY SINGLE NEWS SOURCE‼️ On what planet could this possibly make any sense at all? Why can’t I simply view ALL Apple News at a single font size?
And, ironically, in the Books app you can’t set the font size individually for each book. Changing it in one book changes it for all of them. Annoying.

Most boring iPhone Pro update ever? it's beginning to look that way. Assuming the blank machined bodies that AI got its hands on are correct, the design looks identical to the 14 Pro except for incremental differences--I'm not seeing any sign of curved edges that would have softened the slabby appearance and given it a more polished, premium look. To no one's surprise, there's USB-C thanks to the EU gun pointed at Apple's head, which will be a bit more interesting if the Pro models get Thunderbolt speeds at the port. Otherwise... Zzzzzzzz. The Pro Max will (finally) get a better optical zoom range with its periscope lens, but hard to get all that excited about "new" features that other premium phones have had for a few years. And then, of course, there will be a new processor that will double (of whatever) iPhone speed so that what used to take 1/50th of a second will now take 1/100th of a second, which will be great news for those whose to-do lists are broken out in fraons of a second. Maybe we'll get Wifi 6E? And then the latest "special color" rumor is blue with a gray undertone because apparently Apple believes that video/photography creatives who are big buyers of the iPhone Pro don't want anything resembling an actual color.

None of the above is bad, per se, it's just a snoozefest, and even the rumor mill doesn't suggest otherwise.
Welcome to a mature product category. The evolution and innovation have been slowing for years. It's the nature of the beast. The fact is Apple doesn't really need to make each year's update so compelling to attract last year's iPhone buyers. They just need to keep evolving and people a couple of generations (or more) behind will eventually upgrade and some Android users might convert.

That’s exactly it. I will be getting this new iPhone 15 Pro, whether it has a USBC or not. Whether is has a periscope lense or not.
Why? Because my current iPhone XS is starting to get old and I am quite certain that there are tens of millions of customers like myself who will be upgrading as well.
So like in previous years, Apple does not need to attract last year’s iPhone buyers to the upgrade party.
I'm in the same boat with a XS. I would have upgraded last year, however I was/am waiting for usb-c. Apple really just needs to keep pushing it along slightly better so we don't stray to anything else.
This same scenario played out for me last upgrade season when I went from iPhone Xs to iPhone 14 Pro Max. Hanging on for another year for USB-C wasn’t even remotely worth it. I needed more storage space much more than I needed a different charging port and cables.

Speaking of the hardwired port, Lightning or USB-C, I only use wired charging about 5% of the time. I charge my iPhone wirelessly at least 95% of the time. It’s just so convenient and MagSafe takes the convenience of wireless changing up several notches and it’s totally idiot proof. What about getting data on and off my iPhone? No problem, that’s what iCloud is for. I haven’t sych’d my iPhone with my Mac in years using the hardwired connection. My most frequent use of the hardwired port on my iPhone is Apple CarPlay. There’s no benefit that I’m aware of for using USB-C over Lightning when it comes to Apple CarPlay. Not yet anyway.

For many people, and probably most people, the benefits associated with moving from Lightning to USB-C will be nonexistent to minuscule. Yeah, some folks will rejoice for edge use cases that they’re in tune with, but for a whole lot of folks it will be a big whoop or “Why the heck did I put up with an aging and behind-the-curve iPhone for another year (or two) for this?” Sorry.

Camera changes are probably in a similar category as charging port changes for most people. The iPhone 4s had as good of a camera as I ever needed to carry with me all of the time in my pocket. My iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone XS Max, and now iPhone 14 Pro Max just piled on all kinds of additional camera features that I rarely if ever use. I suppose I could make a feature length documentary about my dog’s life from a dog owner’s perspective from my iPhone. That would be exciting for absolutely nobody, not even the dog.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that if you have to write articles that speculate about a product coming in a different color (cough cough) … the product has reached a state of maturity and predictability that doesn’t generate a whole lot of excitement. But that’s perfectly fine when the product consistently does everything it’s supposed to do and does it well. Perhaps all iPhones should only be offered in the colors gray and white to reflect their advanced age. You know, like all those cars that look like the manufacturer sprayed clear coat over primer, like that’s a thing. Hey, maybe the price of pigment has gotten totally out of hand.

The bottom line, just buy what you need when you need it so you can start enjoying its benefits immediately. No matter how long you hold out for whatever fancy new features you so covet, including a snazzy new primer gray color in a matte finish (OMG), your excitement will wane nearly immediately and precisely within a few weeks when AppleInsider reports on the spewings of the Apple Rumor Gods, who by the way are exactly correct nearly 17% of the time, and they start rubbing your face in the possibility of newer, better, and longer lasting new features that the next version will have that will render the device you have only started paying for the equivalent of a dried cat turd.

For Apple products, the half-life of new purchase excitement to reach FOMO status for what’s coming next is right around 90 days, if you’re lucky. It does not matter, if you just bought an Apple product with an M65 Ultra Pro Super Max chip, the M66 Ultra Pro Super Max Mo’ Better chip rumors will burst your bubble of excitement in no time flat. Get used to it.

Once you have the perfect form-factor, there is really nothing to change. Only idiotic technophobic people want to see changes in the phone.
