TUO Matter Button, ESR's 6-in1 MagSafe charger, & more Matter on the AppleInsider podcast

On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, your hosts cover several new product launches, share two new reviews, and answer some listener questions.

For a limited time, Yale has launched a new version of its Assure Lock 2. The new model doesn't contain any new functionality, but it's outfitted in a striking magenta.

The hue of magnenta is Pantone's official 2023 color of the year. As before, the Assure Lock 2 X Pantone collab works natively with Apple HomeKit.

Then Leviton's existing lineup of second-generation switches, dimmers, and plug all have been updated to work with Matter. Arriving as a free firmware update, this will expand the device's abilities to work with additional platforms.

Meanwhile, Nanoleaf rolled some firmware updates out too, adding support for its devices to act as Thread border routers within HomeKit. Previously, while they worked with Thread, they couldn't copy the border routing capabilities of the HomePod mini.





For review, Stephen showed off the new Tuo button. This button looks similar to others in the space and can set any scene or control any HomeKit device, but is set up via Matter.

Andrew then highlighted the new ESR 6-in-1 MagSafe charger. With Apple-certified fast-charging MagSafe and Apple Watch pucks, combined with multiple USB outputs, this is one of the most capable chargers you can add to your setup.

Finally, your hosts answer a pair of listener questions surrounding Apple TV and tvOS. Our listeneres wanted more information on Enhanced Dialogue and automatic profile switching arriving with tvOS 17.
