Apple shares more details about live action Godzilla and Titans drama

Apple TV+ has revealed the first details of "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters," a forthcoming 10-part series starring Kurt Russell, and coming as part of Legendary Entertainment's Monsterverse.

Science fiction has proved a hit for Apple TV+ with shows such as "Foundation," and also "Silo," the streamer's highest-rating series to date. It's done less well with fantasy series like "See," but now it's tapping into the hit Monsterverse series of movies with "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters."

"Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real," says Apple, "'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' tracks two siblings following in their father's footsteps to uncover their family's connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch."

"Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell)," it continues," taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows."

"The dramatic saga - spanning three generations - reveals buried secrets," says Apple, "and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives."

"Monarch" stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

It's developed by "Severance" and "Star Trek" writer Chris Black, who has also written several of the ten episodes. Other writers include Andrew Colville, best known for "Mad Men," and Milla Bell-Hart, who wrote for "Truth Be Told."

Apple has not yet announced a streaming date for the series.

    This is going to be so much fun! And interestingly, I'm glad that Sci-Fi is a Hit on Apple TV+. I want to know how comedy has done on Apple TV+ because Ted Lasso was the best show ever. I guess the British Humour was a little hard to bring more audiences. only time will tell :)

    Cultural appropriation 

    It will be interesting to see how another non Japanese Godzilla media release does.  Previous ones were not that great.

    They appropriated King Kong for Godzilla vs. King King.  Turnabout is fair play.

    I’m excited at the prospect of this show. I am shocked but equally excited it’s on Apple TV+ and not Max (formerly HBO Max) since the Monsterverse is a WBD property, so I thought. I’d think WBD would want this series on Max to boost it but nonetheless I’ll be watching this series for sure!

    While I wasn't too impressed with the new American Godzilla films (I preferred Shin Godzilla to them), I am excited for this show.

    On a side note, this is the second show that I'll be watching with a real life father-son pair, the first being Netflix's Unstable.
