Tim Cook has revealed that he's chosen an iPhone 15 Pro Max for himself, but says picking the color was "a hard decision."

Never underestimate the importance of iPhone colors. After months of rumor, and after studying the Apple event invitation for color clues, users now know what their options are, and some are finding it tough to pick.

Including Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.

"You know, I'm using the Natural [Titanium]," Cook said in an extremely brief interview.

That color means he is certainly using an iPhone 15 Pro, and the size of it in his hands suggests it's the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max.

"I love it, but I tell you, it was a hard decision," he continued. "Of course it was a hard decision because the blue really caught my eye, the white really caught my eye, the black really caught my eye."

Having deftly listed each one of the other colors available, Cook says he committed to Natural Titanium. "So it was hard, but I eventually landed on that."

The iPhone 15 Pro models are the first iPhones to have a titanium chassis -- with a redesigned aluminum interior -- which is strong but makes for a reportedly noticeably lighter phone.

Cook has presumably had rather longer to choose his color than most people. The whole iPhone 15 range went on preorder today, with the first shipments arriving at buyers on Friday, September 22, 2023.

I chose that too, but with a nagging echo from the past that has never gone away. My first laptop was the PowerBook G4 Titanium. Looked great, but the material, touted as strong and light, cracked on the hinges. If there was a recall, fix, or rebate I never learned of it. My college paid for it but I eventually got a new one as an officer from my union. Always have been leery of titanium claims since then.

The edge that would crack was painted carbon fibre, IIRC. The paint would flake off and reveal the black texture underneath. It was also slightly lighter than the titanium panels.

I cannot even tell you what color my current iPhone is. It has always been enclosed in a light green silicone case.

Same Tim, same. I wish we could get to a point where the phones were on display at an Apple Store after the announcement, but before the pre-order.  Even if they were in glass and you couldn’t touch them, or they were just dummy units that wouldn’t turn on. High res images just don’t cut it sometimes. Last year I went with the 14 pro in white/silver because I thought the purple was hideous in images. The moment I saw purple in real life I loved it and wished I had gotten that color. So for me, the natural titanium or the blue were the two finalists and I went with blue out of fear the natural titanium wouldn’t look as good as the blue in real life. 1st world problems I suppose.

Went for the same. Not sure how the camera bump will look in the black fine woven case though

Wonder if Tim Cook used his Apple credit card to buy the phone and earn that 3% cashback?

Lol. I dont care what color Cook chose.

Interestingly it’s the same color I prefer. But not a hard decision at all.

Tim Cook is the always on ceo. Never misses an opportunity to sell product.

I can always see and tell you my iPhone color, as I keep it in a clear case. Why would people but iPhones in colored cases? Because they don't like seeing the color and/or the meticulous craftsmanship they bought?

What I was instantly curious about is how many activated iPhones Tim actually has.

Great Tims think like alike. I ordered the Natural Titanium too. The titanium casing is one of the chief differentiators from the previous gen. Hence exploit it, don't colour it.

Ha ha amazingly I originally went towards the titanium but I opted for the blue. Delivery on the 22nd.for mine. However I ordered the iPhone titanium color for my wife. I should have stuck to my first choice and bought two the same color. Now I have to go to the apple store on the 22nd. to pick my wife's up along with her new apple watch 9 and then wait for my delivery.

Mine is still in really good shape, it looks almost new.

The problem was never with the titanium anyway.  The problem was the painted plastic that would wear at the front edge and the pot metal hinges that would break.

If they'd made the hinges out of titanium, there wouldn't have been an issue with them.  If they'd made them out of decent quality steel, they'd have been fine.

I always assumed he cracked open a new one every morning.
