Matter vacuums, Thread locks, & more smart home news on HomeKit Insider
On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, your hosts talk about a new Matter over Thread smart lock for the EU, Matter-enabled vacuums, and much more.
HomeKit Insider
The fourth generation Nuki has launched, this time with Matter over Thread. Available for users in the EU and the UK, this lock will work with Apple Home and other smart home platforms.
It is the first lock to come to market that has worked with Matter over Thread out of the box. Most smart locks use Bluetooth with Apple Home or Wi-Fi through their own apps or hubs.
It was also revealed this past week that SwitchBot's two robotic vacuum cleaners would be getting Matter support in early 2024. That would make them some of the first to work with Apple Home.
Finally in the news, the Wireless Power Consortium revealed that Qi2 would launch before the holidays with iPhone 15 support in tow.
We round out the episode with a few hands-on mini-reviews of the Ecovacs X2 Omni smart vacuum and the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-2 MagSafe dock.
