Pixelmator Pro 3.5 update adds HDR image and video editing support

Pixelmator Pro now supports editing HDR photos and videos with layer management and color adjustments in its easy-to-use interface.

Pixelmator Pro 3.5 has launched with HDR support to import, edit, and export HDR content like photos and videos shot with an iPhone. This update provides complete management of HDR layers, allowing users to seamlessly integrate designs comprising both SDR and HDR layers while adhering to existing workflows.

The HDR functionality in Pixelmator Pro streamlines the editing process for HDR images, making it as simple as working with other image types.

The new update also allows for effortless editing of HDR videos, ideal for users working with RAW images or HDR content captured on an iPhone. With just one click, the entire HDR range is accessible, ensuring seamless editing.

All familiar tools and features remain consistent throughout the HDR mode, enabling users to seamlessly edit HDR photos and videos within the Pixelmator Pro interface. The option to turn HDR on or off at any point provides additional flexibility.

The color adjustments have been comprehensively overhauled to provide improved performance while refining HDR photo colors.

HDR content can now be edited using automation tools like Shortcuts and AppleScript, allowing users to work on multiple photos or videos simultaneously.

Pixelmator notes that you'll get the best HDR editing experience on an HDR-compatible display, such as the Pro Display XDR or a MacBook Pro with XDR Display. You'll also need to have your Mac updated to macOS Sonoma.

If you've already got Pixelmator Pro, the update is free. If you don't have Pixelmator Pro yet, it is currently on sale for $25 on the macOS App Store.

    They also make Photomater

    Does anyone know the difference between the two?    They appear very similar

    It appears Photomator is the replacement for the original Pixelmator (non-Pro). The original Pixelmator is no longer on the App Store or on the pixelmator.com website. Interesting thing is Photomator shows as being downloaded on my Mac App Store meaning the App Store sees it as the latest version of the base Pixelmator. I downloaded Photomator and it doesn't remove Pixelmator.

    update: This isn't an update to Pixelmator, it's a new product that requires a license. Photomator is available on macOS and iOS platforms while Pixelmator Pro is only available on the Mac.

    Photomator seems like their version of Lightroom. Even though it’s not fully featured yet, if you look at the roadmap, that looks to be where it’s headed.

    Pixelated is still in the App Store.  Link below.  They are still updating it monthly

     Their portfolio of products is very confusing
