So, how were sellers already listing the Vision Pro for sale a day before it was even released? Bots. Lots of 'em, all bypassing Apple's requirements for an Apple ID and face scan before buying, perhaps meant to prevent it. Just one of those bots was able to purchase over 1500 units, and there were many more doing the same scammy buying for scalpers. Presumably the face scan was avoided by saying they'd do so in store after the order arrived. The Apple ID? No clue.
20%, 30% of the total units sold in the first hours? Who knows, but apparently it was a heck of a lot.
How exactly do you define a "scalper"? If I buy something then suddenly realize I don't need it, should the government stop me from reselling it at any price I want? Do you want everyone who sells everything to get approval first from a government agency? And do you want price controls that prevent the value of anything we own from going up? Does that apply to the value of your house, if someone offered you ten times the price that you just paid for it?
Pretty simply really: purchasing something with the intent to immediately resell it at a higher price without being an authorized reseller.
No government approval necessary, just massive fines for any online service that allows such transactions to occur. Force sellers to either enter an authorized reseller ID or enter the serial number of item they're selling, which can then be used to validate the date of purchase and purchase price, to ensure that it's not being sold over the MSRP within 30 days of purchase.
You're a bit of a fascist.
You don't have the first idea what a fascist is.
I guess you must be the resident expert. One characteristic of a fascist government is stringent governmental controls over the economy. You know, like "massive fines for any online service" facilitating the sale of personal property or "forcing sellers to enter an authorized reseller ID or the serial number of the item they're selling" because we can't have anyone selling something "over the MSRP within 30 days of purchase." Is that the kind of government you want, fascist?

Not in the slightest. I'm someone who likes to cut right to the heart of what motivates people. Why not just come right out and say that you only care about yourself and amassing as much money as possible, whatever the cost? Rather than trying turn it around and hide it behind labels for others. If you have to hide your true nature, chances are you understand how much it would offend others to know it.
Happy to expose the true nature of those who believe they're entitled to profit off of something which they put zero effort into helping create, market, or otherwise add value to.
You betrayed much more about your own motivation than I disclosed about mine. Why not just come right out and say you would love a fascist government so you could control everything anybody does? I am not at all interested in reselling these things but if someone wants to take the risk of paying $3,500 up front in the hopes of selling to someone with more money than sense (or time apparently), only a fascist would think massive fines for online services, a tracking system, and a ban on selling things over MSRP was a good idea. Who are you protecting? People who are queuing up to buy $3500+ gadgets? We're not talking about insulin for diabetics FFS!
Obviously it's in Apple's best interest to sell to end-users and it's in the end-user's best interest to buy directly from Apple, if for no other reason than to benefit from the custom fitting, etc.
