Why is it always the threads I post as a joke that are most succesfull

Anyway now we are talking bikes here is my new one

Third bike this year. The two others were stolen.

Combined 105, LX and XT on a Columbus steel frame (can´t remember the tubes right now). I hate aluminium.

Its the lightest bike I have ever owned. Just around 9 kilograms. And the best: Got it for $500

Actually, my first " real " bike was hand made for me out back in 1980. It's frame was Reynolds double butted tubing and was rigged with Campag gear & a Brooks saddle.

    It cost a packet at the time. ( about a $1000.00 )

Had it for about a year b4 some mongrel stole it.

Actually had it locked to a cyclone fence & downpost.

    But that didn't stop em.

I still cry over that one.

It was sheer joy to ride.

Been more into lightweight mountains bikes these days.

They have to carry my 6 Ft -1" frame plus loads.

Don't really like the finicky gears on them as much as I loved the Campag gears.

Still as my major transport they does what they does.

    Sigh\

In my garage - I made a workshop specifically for the bike.

If I had my way I would keep it in my bedroom but with mud and stuff from all the MTB i ride it wouldnt be a good sight!

I always try to get campa groups on my bikes. Had Chorus on my last racer. It screamed. Even better than the one I had Dura-Ace on (five years ago).

    I'm riding a " Bitsa " MTB ........Bitsa dis...... bitsa dat !

It's a real dog's breakfast on wheels with crappy shimano junk.. ( not the high end stuff )...oops I shouldn't really speak like that..it's leaned against the wall of my front room...i think it heard me !

Sadly for me, ( i've had about 15 in my time and most have even got pinched, seriously busted..two got run over while I was still on them..I was Ok but the bikes died. Another got squashed by a real dumb-arse driver backing over the kerb

While another got burnt in a house fire that was caused by my Psycho neighbour...She was a real fruit-cake..

The others I don't really remember that much of, as they weren't special..but my first real hand made bike really broke my heart...curse those thieving R-Soles......

    PS

My nephew ( 16 ) has officially left me eating dust in his wake.

He is a super serious " X level " MTB rider. He reminds me of when I was much younger..& I didn't think I'd had a good day unless I'd come near to busting something

Well, like a few of you my bike is worth more than my car by a few k. New it was around $6,500 +. I keep it locked in my house, and never leave it out side. Yep I love my Dekerf, Good old Canadian Made Mountain Bike.

Dekerf [though they don't make the Softtail anymore]

    flick.

Hoo Hoo What a pretty blue

For some reason I love my bikes to be plain metal chrome finish.

It's very cool to have a buff chrome with no stickers etc on the frame.

Incidentally, seeing your picture reminds me of how bloody hard it is to find Xtra long seat stems.

Most are made for midgets..like as if everyone who rides a bike is 10 years old, and is under 5 foot 5 inches..It really cramps my legs sometimes. ( 6 ft 1" )
