The second developer beta of macOS Sonoma 14.4 has arrived, giving testers another build to try out on their Macs.

Developers participating in the beta program can pick up the latest build through the Apple Developer Center or by updating Macs that are already running the beta. The public beta, which can be signed up to via the Apple Beta Software Program, usually arrives not long after the developer versions are released.

The second beta arrives after the first round, which Apple rolled out on January 29.

The second macOS Sonoma 14.4 build is number 23E5191e, replacing the first, 23E5180j.

So far, no real major changes have been uncovered in the beta, but it is likely that Apple will introduce some changes pertaining to the EU Digital Markets Act rules in March.

As well as macOS Sonoma, some earlier versions of macOS are also seeing beta updates. The second release candidates of macOS Ventura 13.6.5 and macOS Ventura 13.6.5 have also been provided for testing, pending release.

The second RC of macOS Monterey 12.7.4 is build number 21H1111, while the second RC of macOS Ventura 13.6.5 is build 22G610.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
