Greetings all,

First, as a struggling newbie to all things iOS who continuously seeks reliable advice, your site feels like home already. I am so pleased to have stumbled upon it and hope my current kindergarten status is welcome here.

Problem: I purchased an HP all-in-one 4155e intending to use both my iphone se 2020 and an Android tab A with it. (Live and learn - should’ve have researched more prior to purchase because it sounds like an AirPrint printer would have been my best choice). Not 100% certain but I question if device difference in iOS, android AND the fact that initial printer set-up was done with wifi direct on my android tablet are a cause of printer confusion?  Now the dang printer refuses to recognize and function with my iphone. I do not know why or where to start. The absurdly inadequate documentation provided with the printer is no help. This rural mountain resident recently acquired satellite internet (whoop!) and printer refusal occurred with wifi attempt. Could be operator confusion, as well - I seem to experience, AHEM, “challenges” with all tech gadgetry:) Please, do not hesitate to dumbitdown. Should anyone invest time to educate me (HP will not without pay), know I will not be insulted and am likely to understand better if replies are in a simple form.

Again, thank you for everything I have learned in the past two hours from wisdom shared generously here - over & out.

Did it ever print from your iPhone? And yes, I agree with the premise that a printer saying that it was explicitly AirPrint would probably have worked better out of the gate.

I'm in a similar situation to you (printing from (iPhones and Android plus two tablets, one with iOS and another with HarmonyOS). I print to an Epson printer though.

In general, just making sure all the devices are connected to the same wifi network should be all you need.

Your device might ask you at some point during the print preparation process if you want to use a 'system' print utility or a specific one (I have system print and Epson print as options).

There should be a specific printer app/utility somewhere on the App Store/Play Store so it's worth trying to locate that for your HP and installing it.
