On its Web site Thursday, the Christian Science Monitor reported that officials of Saddam's regime authorized six payments to Galloway, totaling more than $10 million, between July 1992 and January 2003, according to documents the newspaper obtained.

Fellows, this is a bit like that

"They found a chem weapons factory!!!!!!!!!!"

    thread you started. And the

"Saddam's got black helicopters sorry boats full of WMD!!!!!!!"

thread you started, only now the sources are worse. Fox qouting the Christian Science Monitor for Buddah's sake.

You've never heard of Michael Foot (he was the leader of the Labour party) and ...

you've never heard of Arthur Scargill (he was the UK miners leader but ...

"documents" came to light that said one was really "Agent Boot, a KGB agent," and the other paid for his house out of funds supplied by Libya. Both stories were launched in the conservative press, both were very convenient at the time, both were bullshit. Probably UK secret service.

It happens, and this stinks of the same technique.

I thought I'd toss another log on the fire here.

Newly found Iraqi files raise heat on British MP

Documents indicate payments of more than $10 million for support of Labour Party official.

By Philip Smucker | Special to The Christian Science Monitor

BAGHDAD ? A fresh set of documents uncovered in a Baghdad house used by Saddam Hussein's son Qusay to hide top-secret files detail multimillion dollar payments to an outspoken British member of parliament, George Galloway.

    ...

The most recent - and possibly most revealing - documents were obtained earlier this week by the Monitor. The papers include direct orders from the Hussein regime to issue Mr. Galloway six individual payments, starting in July 1992 and ending in January 2003.

Ouch. I think the UK should freeze his accounts and start a criminal investigation. Maybe Galloway will flee to Syria?

Well on a lighter note, at least the payments stopped before the war started.

For people who think the pro-war movement was "all about oil". Why can't the same be true for the anti-war movement?

It definitely could be for some of the anti-war crowd, and those of us in the anti-war camp acknowledged that long ago.

I know it took more than 14 days but here is the end of that story:

On April 25, 2003, this newspaper ran a story about documents obtained in Iraq that alleged Saddam Hussein's regime had paid a British member of Parliament, George Galloway, $10 million over 11 years to promote its interests in the West.

An extensive Monitor investigation has subsequently determined that the six papers detailed in the April 25 piece are, in fact, almost certainly forgeries.

Yep, I have been pretty feisty at times. I hope you know I love you, Fellowship, even though the above quote does bring a chuckle to my contorted face.

So people are surprised by the fact that many in Europe resisted ousting Saddam because they profited from his presence and the sanctions slaughter?

I did and I can tell you I admire the CSM for their intellectual honesty as well as I am begining to wonder more and more about the US admin.

I believe I will sit out the next election.

Please excuse me for my posting of this thread. It was based on a lie most likely from my very government.

One has to ask questions. I hope you know I am true to this quest.

    Thank you for understanding

Your tests do nothing more than demonstrate what a pretentious ass you are. Yes, this is me, BR, calling someone else a pretentious ass.

I, for one, am not surprised. I believe I have even stated that any reason is a good reason (including personal profit) to avoid bombing people.

Of course, your remark is not that insightful, seeing we are talking about a British MP here (remember? Brittain? Bush' old lapdancer?). AND the allegations are false. Ouch. 2-0, pal.
