Part of the fun of the Mac is that you can configure it so many ways to just how you want it.

It gives you less stuff setup right out of the box, but the choice to do so much more than Windows can. You're never really dictated to with the Mac the way you are by Microsoft.

There's so much shareware/freeware out there too that you can really do anything you want.

    Welcome Aboard!

This board (AI), is just another fine example of why we as MAC users are like one big family. If you have any questions about anything MAC or even not MAC related, and you post it here, almost 99% of the time, someone will answer your question. In fact, most of the time that I have a pressing question about something harware related, I will post in the Genius Bar. Ang get a very good response.

    Welcome to the AI Family!

    a few hints.

use both systems win32 & osx ...both have their good

    & bad points

if you already know some unix then you will be right at

home. its bsd base is pretty solid, ui could use some tuning

& the finder is incredibly crappy (my opinion) & the

    smb support is spotty

it will work well, just make sure you have a lot of ram

(ram is cheap so go with 1gb if you can)

for games i recommend sticking with win2k

hardware wise apple has a good range of products

do some r&d before you buy (applies to any os/hardware)

stay away from rev A of any product (apple, sun, dell etc etc)

im running ti powerbook rev c so some of the issues with rev A's have already been addressed.

ofcourse if you have the $$ then by all means keep

the economy alive & post your rants here & save everyone

    a bunch of trouble

    enjoy

... but an alias to the application folder really should go into the Dock by default... It's just the best way to get to it...
