A new leak backs up previous claims that Apple is planning a slimmer iPhone 17, and that 120Hz ProMotion will no longer be a Pro model exclusive.

iPhone 17 line to get ProMotion on all models

Previous rumors have said that the whole iPhone 17 range will boast an LTPO display, meaning that they will get the ProMotion screen that provides a faster, more responsive display. Those rumors did specifically say that the iPhone 17 Plus would be getting this screen, and the existence of the Plus model has been repeated.

Now leaker "Ice Universe" on Weibo, who has a good track record for iPhone display details, has released a series of specifications and prices for the iPhone 17 range. The leak backs up the use of LTPO screens, except for one model marked as being the iPhone SE 4, which will have the older LTPS displays.

Leaker "Ice Universe" has published a specifications and price list for the iPhone 17 range

The leak claims that the iPhone 17 will have a 6.27-inch LTPO screen, seemingly the same as the iPhone 17 Pro. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to have a 6.68-inch LTPO display.

  • iPhone 17 $799

  • iPhone 17 Pro $1,099

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max $1,199

Leaker "Ice Universe" also says that there will be a further model, believed to be the rumored slimmer edition. That model is said to have a 6.65-inch LTPO display and cost from $1,299. This may be the "Ultra" model that has been rumored for several generations.

According to the leak, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will have 12GB of RAM and a triple 48MP camera system. They will reportedly feature a 3nm A19 Pro chip, while the regular models will have an A19.

Another advantage of the regular iPhones getting a ProMotion screen is that it should mean they get an always-on display.

Ngl Ultra is a pretty bad name considering Samsung has been using it for years and with Samsung bringing in the “Galaxy Watch Ultra” to fight with the Apple Watch Ultra. Although pricing would match s24 Ultra since it’s 1,299.99 for the 256 and 512 gb versions

Looking like the iPhone 16 product line up will be a year old before the upcoming machine learning AI features are implemented, so I’m sticking with the workhorse 14 Pro until iPhone 17 or 18 Pro models are released. iPhone is starting to look a bit stale and really needs worthwhile hardware improvements across the board, plus for all of the new AI features to be actually working in iOS. One positive for consumers is that Apple have at least showcased what is forthcoming to iOS, as well as provided honest information regarding hardware requirements. Three sheets to the wind bloatware vendors like Microsoft would’ve capitulated to shareholders by releasing iOS 18 to everyone in a beta state before promptly closing ranks!

Surely a ‘slimmer’ model will mean a ‘slimmer’ battery…?  And presumably still have the huge camera bump. What’s the point.

Funny how a couple years ago it was all of a sudden not cool to have thin devices. prior to that, everything was about about getting devices as thin as possible across the industry.

And lately, all the rumors are again about thinner phones, thinner laptops, etc.

Yo-yo trends. Something’s never change and never will.

Guess I’ll be sticking with my 12 Mini then though I would really like a new model with better battery life.
