Version 1.6 of the Apple Sports app introduces several new features tailored to football enthusiasts. Notably, the app fully supports NFL and NCAA Division 1 football, enabling users to follow their favorite teams, monitor scores, and dive into game statistics.

  • Kick off this NFL season with Apple Sports. Follow your favorite teams all season long in real time.

  • College Football is back. Check scores, stats, play-by-play, and more for every Division 1 conference and team.

  • Catch up on team stats, box scores, and lineups-- now in one place with the new Stats tab on game pages.

A new "Stats" tab has been added to the game pages, consolidating box scores, lineups, and other crucial game details into a single, user-friendly location. The feature enhances the user experience by providing all relevant game information at a glance.

The Apple Sports app, initially launched in February, initially supported a limited selection of sports leagues. However, since its debut, the app has undergone steady updates, gradually expanding its coverage to include a broader range of sports.

The latest update is a significant step in that direction, providing a robust platform for football fans to engage with their favorite sport. Users can customize their experience by selecting preferred teams and leagues, ensuring that the app delivers the most relevant content to each individual.

Apple Sports continues to offer integration with the Apple TV app, which supports Live Activities. It allows users to follow live games and receive real-time updates directly within the TV app.

The app is available for iPhones running iOS 17.2 or later.

Is there a widget yet? Otherwise I find this pretty useless.

Honestly, I had no idea this app existed... I live in Norway, not even in the EU.

How many other apps from Apple are we not able to get? I really, REALLY do not care if its all in english - Norwegians are pretty proficient english readers/listeners, one can argue our spoken accent might be off...

The updates seem solid - as stated above, a widget would prove vital for future upgrades. Would make it possible to include it into MacOS as well (through iPhone widgets).
